Cypress Run Golf Club Recognized For Environmental Excellence

We're proud to announce that Cypress Run Golf Club has achieved the distinguished designation of a "Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary" through the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf Courses, a prestigious initiative by Audubon International. Spearheaded by our Course Superintendent, Duane VanEtten, our club has been recognized for its unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship. In fact, we are thrilled to be the 111th golf course in Florida and the 970th in the world to earn this esteemed recognition. 

Jim Sluiter, Staff Ecologist for the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Programs, commends Cypress Run Golf Club, stating, "They have exhibited a strong commitment to their environmental program, creating a sanctuary for wildlife right here on our golf course property." 

The journey to certification entails a comprehensive evaluation of our environmental practices in various key areas. These include Environmental Planning, Wildlife & Habitat Management, Outreach and Education, Chemical Use Reduction and Safety, Water Conservation, and Water Quality Management. 

The Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for Golf Courses, endorsed by the United States Golf Association, provides essential guidance to help golf courses preserve and enhance wildlife habitat while safeguarding natural resources. Our dedication to environmental excellence aligns us with golf courses worldwide, spanning the United States, Africa, Australia, Canada, Central America, Europe, and Southeast Asia, all of whom have achieved certification in this program.
